The Wilderness
It is found in the stillness of the mist-shrouded lake, the warmth and sweetness of pinewood smoke, the haunting cry of the ringneck Loon. It is found too in the chattering leaves of the poplar tree, as they flick and spin, their trunks bent near double at the touch of Keewaydin - the north west wind.
And the towering pines have it, and the cedars in their shadowy glades. It is in the musky breath of the peat bog, the cracked granite cliff and the tumbled scree. It rages defiant in the roaring tempest and whispers warmly in the azure blue. It is in all of these and you will find it is in you.
When the sun becomes your timepiece and the beckoning horizon your heart’s contemplation; as the pull of the paddle and the weight of the pack etch new lines in your muscle; when the cares and worries of the world fall away to the rhythmic pulse of life on the Trail - then you will find it and know. This is the Wilderness.
About Clint
For Clint Zold, the pursuit of authentic Wilderness experiences has led him across landscapes both far and wide. Whether paddling the ancient Nastawgan of mystic Temagami, hiking the lonely mountains of the West, or snowshoeing the hunting grounds of his trapping territory in the Arctic Watershed of Northern Ontario - Clint is truly at home in the wild.
Living off-grid on the banks of the Mattagami River; the canoe, axe and snowshoe have become his daily companions in a semi-subsistence lifestyle where food, warmth and water come from the land around him. His passion for Wilderness is only equaled by his desire to share it with others.
